Drug Avastin No Longer Recommended for Breast Cancer Treatment

The Food & Drug Administration has recommended that Avastin, a commonly prescribed drug to treat breast cancer, be removed as a safe and effective treatment for the disease.

The drug itself is not being removed from the market and the FDA’s action will not have any immediate impact on its use in treating breast cancer. The breast cancer recommendation will not affect the approvals for colon, kidney, brain, and lung cancers.

For additional information about the FDA’s recommendation or to see if you have been affected by this news, please visit their website at www.fda.gov.
