Progressive Insurance Company’s new “Snapshot” device, which attaches to one’s vehicle, supposedly records data about an insured’s driving habits. Progressive advertises Snapshot as an exclusive program that allows its customers to get a personalized car insurance rate based on how a person drives. Progressive claims that the Snapshot device allows its customers to tell their driving story so that Progressive can provide a more accurate insurance quote or rate using the latest technology. The Snapshot device records vehicle speed and time of day. Other information, such as miles driven and rates of acceleration and braking, is derived from the speed and time information recorded by the device. There have been reports, however, that Snapshot causes electrical problems and drains a vehicle’s battery in its entirety. These reports have also included new cars containing new car batteries. The attorneys at Balkan & Patterson, LLP are experienced in class action litigation and will act to protect consumers against corporate wrongdoers. If you believe you have potential for a class action based on damage to your vehicle caused by Progressive’s Snapshot device, please contact us immediately and we will review your case at no charge.
