SONY Faces Class Action Lawsuit on PlayStation Network Security Breach

SONY recently admitted that personal information, including credit card data was stolen by computer hackers who broke into SONY’s online entertainment service.  SONY’s PlayStation Network has more than 77 million users and many claim that this is the worst security breach in hacking history.  User information such as names, birthdays, addresses, computer passwords and sensitive financial information were compromised.  A class action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, California, seeking monetary compensation for the millions of users whose personal and financial data was compromised.  The lawsuit alleges that the breach of security was caused by SONY’s negligence in data security, including its failure to maintain a proper firewall and computer security system.  SONY has not, as of yet, commented on the class action.
